Antimatter reality far from sci-fi

 

 

The scientists can have been able to capture atoms of difficult antimatter, but don't wait that to take to the motors of interstellar rocket or bombs of great reach in the short term - or never.

Although the important advance was announced in the study of the antimatter last week, they made stress in that it uses the science-fiction of the things - as impelling the ship Enterprise or as fuel for a bomb - to remain in the Kingdom of the imagination. 
The atoms have been created in the laboratories during years, but they spread to disappear so quick, the scientists cannot study them. 
But in an on-line published report for the magazine Nature, a team of scientists said that they have caught to the individual atoms and it maintained them for a little more than tenth in second. 
Scientific USA Jeffrey Hangst said that him and its colleagues caught 38 antihidrógeno atoms and they have been able to retain since for more time the experiments it was informed in the magazine Nature. 
The study of such caught atoms could help to respond why the antimatter has disappeared of the natural universe, while the ordinary matter is plentiful in the stars, planets and galaxies. Hangst subtracted importance to the speculations that some day the antimatter could be taken advantage of. "It would be necessary more than the age of the universe to make a gram of antimatter", he/she said.
